This behavior seems inconsistent across the site, with some articles disclosing the affiliate links, some missing them completely (tag “vergeprimeday2017”, obfuscated through url shorteners), and some updating after publication — suggesting this might not be enforced by the site, but depend on the writer.

Instigated the ShirtGate / Shirtstorm moral panic.

Wrote several times about products by Capybara Games, with at least three of these articles published after he had developed a friendly relationship with studio head Nathan Vella—possibly also with cretive director Kris Piotrowski and composer Jim Guthrie. Articles have no disclosure.

Claimed that harassment caused Brianna Wu to leave her home, despite her history of farfetched claims and the ambiguous circumstances of the doxing, and never updated the article despite the the very strong evidence that, apart from an already planned weekend at Comicon, she had never actually left her home, as well as the numerous outrageous claims and apparent false flags that mined Wu’s credibility afterwards.
