Focus has varied during the magazine’s history, with variable amounts of political and pop culture content, eventually settling for the current combination of pop culture and politics coverage.
The website launched in the nineties, and at one point featured a full archive of the print magazine behind a paywall.
Rolling Stone had a fairly strong brush with controversy in 2013 when their cover featured a glamorized Boston marathon bomber, and another in 2014 when they published the famous UVA rape hoax.
